Mokolopo makes merry with two World Championships medals


South African gymnastics has a new World Championships medallist in the shape of Keolebogile Mokolopo.

The youngster won silver and bronze at the World Jump Rope Championships in Orlando, Florida.

She was part of a team of four to compete – the others were Sonopo Tshilwane, Mbali Nyundu and Amanda Msongelwa.

Nearly 800 competitors across 30 plus countries attended the prestigious competition and the competition was of a very high standard.

Nicknamed Keo, Mokolopo she placed third for her Single Rope Freestyle event and came second in the individual three-minutes speed category.

This is the second consecutive World Championships in a row that South Africa’s jumpers have brought home medals

Last year Tshilwane won bronze medal for Triple Unders at the  FISAC/IRSF World Rope Skipping Championships held in Sweden.

Mokolopo was also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for the World Jump Rope Federation (WJRF) competition at the 2017 Arnold Classic, an event which was a great success in South Africa.

Other results in Florida saw Tshilwane placed fifth for 30 seconds speed Msongelwa achieved sixth place Nyundu seventh.
