South Africa’s Rio Olympics bronze medallists, the Blitzboks opened their 2016-17 World Rugby Sevens Series in emphatic fashion in Dubai on Friday.

Taking on fellow African side Uganda, the Phillip Snyman-led outfit won 46-0 to get their campaign up and running.

Werner Kok got the ball rolling just 30 seconds into the match as he went over down the left after a sweeping backline movement.

It was Kok’s 43rd try for the Blitzboks. Skipper Snyman added a further two tries and the South Africans took the half-time break with a 19-0 advantage.

The second half started just as quickly for the Blitzboks as the superstar that is Seabelo Senatla crossed after 30 seconds and then again a minute later.

There followed two more tries, one from Rosko Specman and the other from Ruhan Nel, before Kwagga Smith put the final nail in the Ugandan coffin at the hooter. Adding extra points during the game were Branco du Preez and Justin Geduld with conversions ( two and one respectively).
