Raven’s on the move up the world rankings

Predictably, our Raven Klaasen has been the biggest climber in the latest world rankings released on Monday.

By reaching the doubles final of the Australian Open in Melbourne at the weekend, Klaasen has jumped 15 spots and now slots in at 30th spot. His partner Eric Butorac is now 34th after improving 14 spots.

Klaasen and Butorac lost to Sweden’s Robert Linstedt and Poland’s Luckasz Kubot in the final, going down 6-3 6-3.

Meanwhile our top singles player, Kevin Anderson has slipped one spot.

In the top 20 near the end of last year, Anderson went through something of a slump but reaching the fourth round of the Aussie Open, went some way to arresting his slide and he only went down to 22nd spot.

Our top women’s player, Chani Scheepers moved up one spot to No78. This is some way off the 37th spot that she held back in 2011.

In the para-tennis rankings, Lucas Sithole retained his second spot in the quad singles and seventh in the doubles while KG Montjane stays sixth and eighth in the wheelchair singles. Evans Maripa dropped one spot to 15th in the men’s singles and climbed two spots to 16th in the doubles.
