SA squad for Youth Olympic Games

A squad of 91 (63 athletes and 28 officials) will represent South Africa at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore from 14-26 August.

The team, headed by Chef de Mission, Dave Carr, was announced at Olympic House in Johannesburg on Wednesday, June 2 and leaves for Singapore on August 9.

The full squad is:

Athletics: Maryke Brits (long jump), Valentina Da Rocha (triple jump), Kayla Gilbert (100-metre hurdles), Thato Makhafola (1000m), Simone Meyer (discus), Izelle Neuhoff (400m), Schalk Burger (400m hurdles), Migael Celliers (pole vault), Willem du Plessis (discus), Ruan Greyling (400m), Dylan Jacobs (javelin), Stiaan Minnie (hammer), Siphelo Ngqabaza (200m), Rudolf Pienaar (long jump), Frans Schutte (shot put).
