SA wrestling’s Moroccan medals

The South African senior team returned from the African championships in Casablanca, Morocco with an excellent medal haul.

The championships were held under the auspices of the Fila wrestling federation and Team South Africa placed third overall from the 13 countries. Egypt and Tunisia were first and second respectively.

The team returned with six silver and three bonze medals.

The women’s team placed seventh out of 12 teams with Northern Free State’s Sonia Coetzer faring best with bronze in the 72kg division.

Michelle Hoogkyk (North Cape) placed fifth in the 48kg, Zumicke Geninger (North Gauteng) took sixth in the 63kg and Eastern Gauteng’s Jeannie Coetzer was ninth in the 55kg.

    Excellent !!! Thank you for giving us some NEWS on Wrestling. Needs to be promoted more as one of the Ancient First Olympic Sports.
