I won't say it is a racial discrimination but would suggest that a financial audit must be executed which in my opinion changing the organisation from NPO to profitable organisation with legislation in hand it all seems to be against the constitution of SA.

Rio 2016 Olympics Selection Criteria for SA Hockey Association
- Updated: October 30, 2015
Following media reports on the unhappiness at the South African men and women’s hockey teams not qualifying for Rio 2016 Olympics, SASCOC wish to reiterate that the Continental Qualification route will not be considered.
The SASCOC board agreed on the Rio 2016 Olympics qualification criteria in May this year, where all participating sports codes signed the policies in agreement with the relevant standards.
In light of this, even if the South African hockey teams win the African Championships currently being held in Johannesburg and ending this weekend, the status remains as is – they will not be able to qualify for next year’s Rio Olympics.
Says SASCOC CEO, Tubby Reddy: “We commend the SA men’s and women’s teams participating in the African Championships being held in Johannesburg, giving their best and competing for world ranking points.
“However, the SASCOC Board firmly believes that the qualification criteria, which have been agreed between the international sporting federations and the International Olympic Committee and based on World Olympic Qualification, is in line with SASCOC’s policy of producing world class athletes who will compete at the highest levels.”
The link below is the qualification criteria that was agreed upon between SASCOC and SAHA and the selection policy was signed by both parties:
This is racial discrimination at its finest. Time to boycott SASCOC and their underhand paid officials.
I think the public of South Africa needs a full explanation why SA Hockey can not be supported by SASCOC! Maybe an internal audit should be carried out!
It is disgusting that SASCOC will not change their stance on the Hockey teams qualification criteria. So SASCOC says they overrule the International Olympic committee? FIH are happy the SA has qualified yet SASCOC in their minds think otherwise?
Very sad, when you consider how high ranked the hockey teams are, yet football men and woman are so poorly ranked but they can do as they choose.
It seems discrimination is fully at play here...
@Waynes World It is 100% discrimination! look at the selection criteria of each sport, all sports EXCEPT for soccer dont accept Qualifications at Continental Championships. So basically the 99% white sports have to place in medal positions at World championships, while the 99% black sport only has to place in the top 3 at African championships.
Why cant sport just be performance based. Everyone equal! Wasn't that Mandela's dream?
I find this appalling that the African Champions are not going to be representing their country at the Olympics. It was simply bad luck that the SA men lost to Egypt In the Greenfields semi-finals earlier this year on penalty shoot outs, they proved on Sunday that they are superior to Egypt by beating them four two, with the goals scored by field goals. Hockey is the most played sport in South Africa accross racial and gender lines, it therefore should be represented at the Olympics especially seen as the Olympics are being held in the Southern Hemisphere by a BRICS nation. SASCOC where is your national pride? The SA women have put so much into hockey, starting academy's getting pehnomeanl sponsorship, yet SASCOC does nothing and stops them from participating in a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The timing of this 'clarification' was very poorly considered and completely insensitive (a reflection of your organisation maybe?)
Why not allow the Africa Championship to conclude before re-iterating the conditions SAHA agreed to?
I consider this agreement to be very damaging for the sport of hockey and therefore am disappointed SAHA actually signed this document. The standard of the SA mens hockey team has dropped significantly since prior to the London Olympics when they were breaking into the top 10 nations in the world and playing very competitive hockey. By blocking them from attending the Olympics you have significantly impacted the standard of the team's hockey, their funding and their long term future.
But at least you got to send 15 more SASCOC 'officials' and their family to London!
By the way, it's kind of embarrassing to attach an official document that has been signed incorrectly and therefore has no legal standing! Gideon Sam wrote the date as 07/07/2016 and has not initialed each page as he should have.
@SurrocaJM A esperar que ganen el continental !!!
