The continent’s top rhythmic gymnast, South Africa’s Grace Legote is back from competing at the FIG World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
And she returns with the highest international in the club routine (16.450) by a South African gymnast in the new rhythmic code.
This event was Grace’s second international competition for the year and she’s currently on an impressive run having scored her best scores at her last her consecutive World Cups. Since Austria in November 2014 her scores have improved from 15.350 – 16.050 (23rd place) on hoop; 15.283 – 15.950 on ball (20th place), 15.000 – 15.900 on Ribbon (22nd) and 15.380 – 16.450 (19th) on Clubs!
Said Legote: ‘I’m happy with my performance, I had competitive routines’.
With Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers on the horizon in September, Grace is hoping to attend a training camp in July which will contribute greatly to improving her international performances. This trip however is dependent on funding with the SAGF struggling to fund all the international expenses which come along with producing a gymnast of the highest level.
Meanwhile the accolades continue for Grace, as she has now been selected by loveLife Organisation as ‘One of 16 Young South African’s Who Are Simply WOW! 2015′. Catch her in their latest magazine edition.
