All systems go after Volleyball SA’s AGM

The executive committee of Volleyball South Africa (VSA) has been given the thumbs-up to manage the affairs of volleyball through the next Olympic cycle.
This follows VSA’s annual general meeting at SASCOC’s Olympic House on Saturday.
Delegates from the nine provinces as well as associate members representing the SANDF, SAPS and Schools Volleyball gave the present executive members the go-ahead to manage the affairs of volleyball.
While seven of the nine executive positions were returned unopposed, the positions of Secretary-General and PR/Media were contested by representatives from Gauteng in the snap eof Clive Doren and Warren Sieberts.
However incumbent Secretary-General Kriba Reddy and Media Director Donovan Nair both retained their respective Executive positions.
In a post-election address VSA President Tubby Reddy stressed that in going forward in the new cycle “there is no time for talk. The demand is now on finding ways to implement our various development programmes and show growth of new players and teams and the identification of new talent that will feed into our national team structures.
Reddy’s appeal comes at a time when government and macro sporting structures are calling on national federations to make service delivery their priority.
Reddy went onto say that every effort must be made to build on the gains made in beach volleyball and prepare our athletes for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
ÔÇ£I have no doubt that as an executive we can deliver what is expected of us if each one of us attends to his/her portfolio with a sense of urgency, vigour and accountability,ÔÇØ indicated Reddy.
