Banyana’s final prep

The Banyana Banyana women’s soccer side arrived safely┬á in Lagos, Nigeria to be greeted by wet and humid weather conditions.

Banyana Banyana will face the host nation in an international friendly match against the Super Falcons on Saturday.

The fixture will take place at the Teslim-Balogun Stadium and kick-of is at 5pm South African time.

The two countries played to a 1-1 draw in the first match held at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng near Rustenburg two weeks ago.

The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana are determined to play their hearts out in the final match to be played on the African continent before concluding their final preparations in Germany for the London Olympic Games which are scheduled to take place from 25 July ÔÇô 9 August 2012.

“This match will give us an opportunity to field a different combination of players and see how they perform. I would also like to see them creating goal-scoring opportunities and actually converting the chances ÔÇô┬á it would be great to see the team score two or three goals this time around,ÔÇØ said Banyana Banyana head coach Joseph Mkhonza.

“Having looked at our last game, we need to be more compact in defence and be able to regroup once we have lost possession. The goal we conceded was merely defensive errors that need to be fine-tuned before the Olympics.

“I would also like to see them use set plays to great effect. As this will be our last match on the continent before the Olympics, we would like to wrap up in style.ÔÇØ
