SASCOC and P&G annnounce major sponsorship
- Updated: March 7, 2012
Procter & Gamble (P&G) South Africa, the company behind household names such as Pampers, Always, Gillette and Pantene, on Wednesday announced its partnership with the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC).
P&G’s collaboration with SASCOC is part of its worldwide partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the next 10 years. P&G South Africa will not only support the South African Olympic Team for the London 2012 Olympic Games but will also be contributing to the development of South Africa’s next generation of champions by supporting youth sports development.
Stanislav Vecera, P&G’s Vice President for South and East Africa said: “Procter & Gamble is proud to support SASCOC and the South African Olympic Team. This collaboration is much more than a sponsorship. For P&G, it’s about bringing together our purpose of touching and improving lives and the Olympic purpose of building a better world through sport. ┬áIt is also about supporting athletes and serving moms and families as a company and through our brands.”
“We are delighted to see the strength of P&G’s commitment to the Olympic Movement, without partnerships like this our task of producing sporting champions would be that much harder,” said Tubby Reddy, CEO of SASCOC.
P&G also committed to unveil a major program in support of youth development through sport in collaboration with SASCOC.
The company recognises that behind every amazing athlete elite or beginner is an even more amazing mom. Being in the business of helping moms, with brands that make everyday life a little easier, P&G is the Proud Sponsor of Moms,” adds Vecera.
“As a supporter of mothers of Olympians, P&G is helping athletes to compete and win on the world stage,” said Reddy. “Moreover, by supporting youth sports development, the company is supporting families and helping to develop future athletes.”
“Sponsorship and partnerships are the very lifeblood of sport,” said SASCOC President Gideon Sam. “Whether it is for our elite athletes or at grassroots development level, all help is gratefully appreciated by the sports fraternity.”
“By partnering with the Olympic movement, we hope to create unprecedented awareness of the Games, allowing moms and families everywhere to gather, connect and celebrate. More than this, we hope to create a movement to thank moms everywhere, and to make a difference to youth sports around the globe,” concluded Vecera.
