SA juniors compete in Cairo

The first ITF/CAT African Junior Team Championships got underway in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday with teams competing for spots in the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas & Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals and World Junior Tennis Finals.

Three junior teams from South Africa are competing in the qualifying events. This is the first time that there has been a dedicated African regional qualifying event for the ITF junior team competitions.

Our nine-strong team is made up of a boys Under-14 team, a boys Under-16 team and a girls Under-16 team:
WJT Boys Under-14: Lloyd Harris, Jan Louis Maritz, Michiel van Schoor
Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas boys Under-16: Theo Ferreira, Philip Franken, Matthew Rossouw
Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas girls Under-16: Ilze Hattingh, Lyn Kiro, Madrie le Roux
