Bob you are so right! Now we can have our sport back. @ Dlamini - if you ask me Yellow Pages are getting a cheap deal. we should take athletics to Supersport in the future and have more prestige meetings. We appreciate the Yellow Pages sponsorship for the 6 series and the ASA Championships and as Dlamini indicates now the student champs but Yellow Pages also structure a better marketing plan for the event. They need to put more money into the television adverts. I am also hoping that the under 23 age group is not forgotten because if we have this age group the athletes will continue to compete in athletics if they know that there is an under 23 age group.

Ramaala back at ASA, 2011 dates announced
- Updated: October 5, 2010
Marathon star Hendrick Ramaala has come on board to assist interim Administrator Ray Mali with the day-to-day running of Athletics SA’s administration. This was one of several key decisions taken when the newly-elected ASA board sat for their first meeting last weekend.
This follows the board having accepted the communication from Richard Stander that he had been recalled to his Boland province and that he wished to return home to be with his family. Stander spent the past seven months managing day-to-day affairs in the ASA office as assistant to Mali.
Until there is clarity on the status of the disciplinary matters relating to ASA staff members and the continuation of the SASCOC administration, Ramaala will work with Mali and the remaining ASA Staff members to ensure the smooth running of the office.
James Evans will act as chairperson of the board until the finalisation of the disciplinary cases against the suspended Board members and together with Paul Martin shall act as spokespersons for ASA.
The following event dates were also confirmed at the board meeting with the provinces called upon to indicate an interest in hosting the different national events. Provinces will further be requested to forward nominations to fill the ASA Standing Committees.
National Trials — 22 January 2011
SA Cross Country Championships┬á — 10 September 2011
Track & Field
Provincial Junior and Youth Track & Field Championships — 4 & 5 March 2011
Provincial Senior Track & Field Championships — 18 & 19 March 2011
Yellow Pages SA Junior & Youth Track & Field Championships — 1 & 2 April 2011
Yellow Pages SA Senior Track & Field Championships — 8 & 9 April 2011
USSA SA Students Track & Field Championships — 29 & 30 April 2011
SA Marathon Championships — 13 February 2011
SA 10km Championships — 15 May 2011
SA Half Marathon Championships┬á — 3 July 2011
Note: The date for the SA 50km Race Walking Championships will be decided after consultation with the race walking fraternity.
All looks much better and Stander was defeated in his quest for contol through the election of specific people to the board - his departure will speed up progress and respect from the athletes.
From What the chairperson of USSA announced, Yellow Pages will sponsor the USSA champs. Why does it not say Yellow Pages USSA Champs? Can the big bosses at ASA clarify this matter.
