South Africa will have two representatives at next month’s 21st Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada and another athlete at the Winter Paralympics.

Peter Scott and Oliver Kraas will fly the flag for SA at the Olympics and Bruce Warner will do the same at the Paralympics. Scott will take part in the Alpine Skiing discipline and Kraas in the cross-country category.

Youngster Scott, 19, was born in Cape Town but now lives in Gazave, France and it’s his first Winter Olympics since taking up the sport in 2006.

Scott is coached by experienced South African Winter Olympian Alexander Heath, who competed at three Olympics, namely Nagano, Salt Lake City and Torino.

Kraas, 34, was born in Germiston, Gauteng but now lives and trains in Weidenberg, Germany.

This will be his second Winter Olympics, having been to Torino four years ago, and he is coached by Johan Sadler.

    Hello:

I have been collecting Olympic Pins since 1980. I have attended four Olympic Games, and one Pan-American Game, but due to health concerns and confined to a wheelchair I can no longer travel to enjoy world-class sporting events. It has been a dream-come true just to attend the Olympics. The experience is certainly something I’ll never forget.

Most of my pin collection consists of National Olympic Committee (NOC) Pins, Team Pins, Olympic Media Pins and Olympic Bid Pins. I am hoping to trade pins through the mail, if you or someone in your Olympic organization has similar collecting interests. I would even be interested in any “older” pins from past Olympic Games. If there is a cost for these pins, etc., please let me know the total in U.S. ($) dollars.

I am a serious collector and your help would certainly enhance my Olympic pin collection.
    Good Luck in Vancouver!!!

Thank you very much for your time and consideration, as I remain

    Sincerely,

    Mike Goss
