Hi, this is from a Nigerian badminton junior who as been opportuned to participate in the first youthOlympic games African qualifiers.
Firstly I appreciate the YouthOlympics organising committee for organising this great on-coming event, but I have a coment on the rules for qualifying. I want to let d organising commitee to realise that in the situation where the two players from thesame country as topped the continental qualying series and the player that came second has to be dropped after he or she has sacrificed is time, education sections (deferment of section)and other important things of his lifefor the zeal for this great event some of this players. I urge the Organising Committee to look into this and make adjustment. GOD BLESS THE WORLD

Thanks Mark, i really appreciate you answering on their behalf, but with ASA in its current state i have little hope of getting answers right now, they don't even update their website regularly. In little more than a month we will have the SA Schools champs and 2 weeks later the SA Youth champs, i sincerely hope that we will get it before that.

Hi there Junior .. Athletics (both Continental and South Africa) are still finalising the final selection for the Youth Olympic Games and the matter is in their hands for now. I suggest you get hold of Athletics South Africa for further clarification. Hope this helps in some way

We are really excited about the Youth Olympics. Our son is a middle distance runner who wil almost certainly be in te finals of the 800m and 1500m for Youth Athletes. The track and field season is in full swing. They need to make sure they qualify and be ready if chosen for the YG. Please, we need those qualifying times!

Make sure you get the best track and field athletes out there because this is where the medals have always come from. Look back at the muliti-events teams like the Commonwealth, the Olympics, the Pacific Games, the African Games, etc - the medals come from athletics and then swimming so make sure that you take the best of these two sports to get us a high ranking. I know everyone says it's about the participation but we also know that when we return the first thing people talk about is how bad the team peformed and they ask for heads to roll. So be wise and make sure you select on merit the best team to compete and not a few holiday makers who want to tour Singapore and return with no further ambition in the sport.

This is a great concept in sport when one considers that the youth of today are leaning more and more towards the kind of activities that are limited to the television, the computer and the cellphone. Maybe now schools will start becoming more active in sport and hire propoer physical education specialists...bring back physical education at least twice a week into the school curriculum
